The Bernards Township School District has received an update regarding the Lake Road construction project and its impact on school traffic.
For the first two weeks of school: Construction will not begin before 9:00 a.m. to help minimize impacts during morning arrival. After 9:00 a.m., detours may be necessary depending on the location of the work. One lane of Lake Road will remain open, except during paving operations.
After the first two weeks: Construction may begin before 9:00 a.m. During morning arrival, the open lane will be used for traffic traveling east toward the high school from Mt. Airy Road. During afternoon dismissal, traffic will travel west away from the high school toward Mt. Airy Road. Drivers leaving the high school may need to turn onto S. Finley Avenue rather than continuing straight onto Lake Road.
Important Safety Reminder
Students should NOT walk to school along Lake Road during construction. Much of the sidewalk is expected to remain closed, potentially into October. Portions of the sidewalk near Spencer will also be inaccessible, making walking in the roadway unsafe, especially during arrival and dismissal.
We will continue to provide updates as construction progresses and traffic plans are finalized. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
