PEER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The Peer Leadership Program is a service organization that affords students an opportunity to assist others in the school and local community. We work on team building, leadership skills, and character development while having lots of FUN! Students meet weekly to work on various projects and activities throughout the year supporting school Character Education goals. This program has the potential to be challenging, personally satisfying, and exciting. The Peer Leader Program is a program to which we invite those students who are interested in demonstrating the Viking Values, promoting positive behavior in school, as well as being involved in community (meaning Annin and Basking Ridge) service related projects.
Some of the activities include but are not limited to the 8th grade Youth Summit Day and a 6th grade Family Fair night in October and 5th grade parent evening orientation in March conduct student tours of Annin for fifth graders in May and new students to the district in August. Throughout the year we are usually involved in planning and coordinating a holiday gift giving program for those less fortunate, a canned food drive, visitations to the elementary schools with the sixth grade counselors to acquaint fifth graders with the middle school program, and collecting toiletries for battered women. In addition, the students will be involved in one or more school/grade wide programs that foster acceptance, tolerance and anti-bullying. We usually meet once a week to discuss the values, plan and promote events, and complete character building activities.
