Ridge Alumni Memorial Scholarship Fund

Funded by donations, Ridge AMS is administered in partnership with Ridge High School and the Bernards Township Education Foundation.  The Ridge AMS is a non-traditional award presented to a graduating Ridge High School senior who demonstrates outstanding character.  The deadline to apply for the scholarship is February 29, 2008.  The scholarship amount is $2,000.

Release of 1st Marking Period Grades Form

Click HERE for Release of 1st Marking Period Grades form to request that your counselor send your 1st marking period grades to the colleges to which you have applied.

Attention Juniors:

Discover Scholarship Program

Juniors who have at least a 2.75 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale for 9th and 10th grades, demonstrate accomplishments in community service and leadership, and have faced a significant roadblock or challenge are encouraged to apply.  Discover awards up to 10 scholarships of $30,000 each.  Scholarships may be used for any type of post-high school education or training.  To apply online click HERE and use access key "DISC".  You may also download and print an application.  The application deadline for the 2008 program is Jan. 31, 2008.  For questions call 866-756-7932.

 

Attention Freshmen:

TechXploration Summer Camp

Middlesex County College is currently recruiting freshman girls for a free, four-week summer camp.  Participants will design and construct a working model of a fairgrounds ride, visit a theme park to understand how amusement park rides work, learn from women who are working in engineering fields and practice Karate as an integral part of this exciting program.  To apply click HERE.  For a video link click HERENOTE:  Students who apply do not have to be "A" students.  Motivated girls with grades of "B" or even high "C" are encouraged to apply.  The dates of the program are July 7th to August 1st.  The camp day will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday at Middlesex County College in Edison.  There is no deadline to apply so applicants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

Summer Opportunities for Students

Click HERE for a website designed to help students find summer programs and learning opportunities of interest.  On this website, students can search for programs in a variety categories including: pre-college programs, science/technology summer programs, art/music/writing/theatre summer programs, social studies/business summer programs, leadership summer programs, summer programs for gifted students, summer camps, adventure camps, study abroad and international programs, and academic contests.  

Oxford Saïd Business Competition

Oxford Saïd Business School is hosting its annual competition for students across the world who want to create and develop a business plan that will have a positive impact on their community.  Selected teams of students will have the opportunity to work with an Oxford Business School student and ultimately have the chance to win up to $5000 in prize money and an opportunity to connect with investors about their business plan.  The deadline to submit an idea (500 word summary of the potential idea submitted by a team of 3-5 students) is March 28, 2008.  NOTE:  Teams of students must be supervised by an adult liaison (i.e. teacher or community member).  On April 30th, the committee will select 15 finalists.  In May & June, the 15 finalists will be partnered with business school students to help mentor them through the development of their business plan.  July 1st is the final business plan deadline.  The top three finalists/winners will be announced during the first week of September.  For more information click HERE.

 

Princeton Prize in Race Relations Award

 Application deadline:  January 31, 2008

The Princeton Prize recognizes outstanding students in the 9th through 12th grades involved in an activity that is helping to improve race relations in the school or community.  High school students who are helping to improve race relations are encouraged to apply.  For details click HERE. 

 

NJ Business Idea Competition

 The 2008 New Jersey Business Idea Competition at Farleigh Dickinson University is open to all high school students (9th –12th grades).  This competition fosters an entrepreneurial and creative mindset and recognizes those students who develop the brightest, most commercially feasible ideas.  Students must download an entry form online via FDU’s website prior to the February 15, 2008 deadline.  Faculty members at FDU will judge applications to select the finalists and semi-finalists.  Forty prizes (cash, plaques and certificates) will be presented at the awards ceremony to be held in early spring 2008.

 

Hoby Leadership Seminar

Congratulations to Ezinna "Missy" Nwokonko who was selected to represent Ridge High School at the HOBY Leadership Seminar in the spring.
