Cedar Hill's Secret Garden
Tucked away in the center of Cedar Hill is a little gem of a space. It is a secret place few parents know of or have even seen; it is the Cedar Hill 'Secret Garden.' The garden was originally created in honor of a very dedicated principal many years ago. Currently the garden boasts a functioning pond with a waterfall, plant life and fish, wildflower beds, trees and shrubs.
The underlying charms of this place are being unearthed just like the garden in the beloved children's novel of the same name. Plans have been underway to enhance this space so that both teachers and students alike can fully embrace the garden's full potential. More natural habitats are envisioned as are raised garden beds for growing fruits and vegetables. A composting bin has already been installed so that students can experience first hand a plant's natural life cycle. Fluorescent mineral specimens have been collected by fourth grade classes on their field trips to the Franklin Mineral Museum. These specimens will be installed in the gardens for further study, and the list goes ever onward.
To visit this place of such vast potential build a few extra minutes into your schedule to meander past the Office, turning left into the library corridor, then turn right to stroll through "Appletree Alley". Open the door that reads "Not an Exit". Enter the world of the 'Secret Garden.' Let this place's many potentials inspire your mind as it has been inspiring the minds of your children.
